IS DELTA 8 THC LEGAL?

Simply put, Delta 8 THC is federally legal thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill.

The farm bill was passed in 2018. According to this legislation, hemp-derived products with less than 0.3% THC are excepted from the list of controlled substances. That means it is legal to use and distribute such products provided that the Delta 9 THC content does not exceed said limits. Since Delta 8 THC is derived from hemp, it’s is legal on a federal level.

Despite Delta 8 THC being legal on a federal level, states have the ability to control the legality status of Delta 8 THC within its jurisdiction. This means it will be up to the state which you reside in whether or not Delta 8 THC is legal. A this time, only 10 states have banned Delta 8 THC. Delta 8 THC VS. Delta 9 THC

Unlike its more popular relative, delta-9-THC, delta-8-THC is a minor cannabinoid that is found in hemp with potent psychoactive effects of its own. It differs from delta-9-THC by the location of the double bonds in their molecular chains. Delta-8-THC occurs naturally in small quantities in cannabis plants and can be synthesized from CBD to isolate it for its unique and powerful effects as well.

Same to Delta-9, Delta-8 THC also binds to CB1 receptors. But because it is more stable and mellow than it’s potent THC cousin, Delta-8 produces a slightly lesser effect, although many claim the effects to be nearly identical. Side effects are also more considerable with Delta 9 according to several user reports. These can include paranoid delusions, mental fog, impaired motor skills, and increased feelings of anxiety. Many of the negative side effects of Delta-9 THC are much milder with Delta-8, as a consensus users report they don’t experience nearly the intense scope of anxiety, paranoia, personality issues that are more common with regular marijuana.
